Returning with her latest single, ‘Host’, from her incoming project ‘Syren’ the release marks a pivotal moment in her artistic journey. Written in a single day during a November studio session with producer Ollie Deane, and debuted live just weeks later at London’s Southbank Centre, the track came together faster than anything she’d made before.
Inspired by a close friend’s experience with a toxic relationship, ‘Host’ began as an empathetic reflection, but quickly transformed into something deeply personal. Talking on the release, IMVN explains: “One of my favourite lyrics is ‘empty the host’, it speaks to the body as a host and our emotions as visitors. What started as her story became a metaphor for letting go of things that no longer serve you.” It’s energetic and visceral, and fully allows the artist to channel her love for performance. Complete with soaring high notes and live drums that nod to her long-standing admiration for the raw energy of bands like Paramore, it has quickly become one of the artist’s favourite songs to perform live, complete with an electric and immersive energy.
