Fresh off the back of her last release The Last One, UK rapper and storyteller Nicki Knightz returns with something different — her first self-recorded track, Cold Nights in East, out 30 May.

Crafted over a dark, textured beat by Swedish producer Markmywords, the track dives deep into life growing up in Hackney. It’s raw, reflective, and deeply personal — exploring trauma, silence, and survival with that signature husky tone that’s become unmistakably hers.

“For the first time, I recorded and engineered it all myself,” she says. “It was messy at first — me, GarageBand, and a lot of trial and error. But there’s power in doing it on your own terms.”

More than a track, Cold Nights in East is a reminder: your environment shapes you, but it doesn’t have to define you. There’s pain here, but also resilience. Nicki’s still standing — and still speaking for those who often aren’t heard.
