House of EL Returns with “Say It Ain’t So” — A Soulful Swipe at Modern Truth.
House of EL — the ever-evolving project from Kieron McIntosh — kicks off 2025 with “Say It Ain’t So”, a genre-blurring new single that dives deep into our complicated relationship with truth and deception. It's a smooth yet sharp track that feels as relevant as it does soulful.
Written after a creative stint in LA, the song first came to life as a topline for the late French producer Kartell. Though it never made it into that project, the concept lingered — a meditation on trust, whether in relationships, institutions, or even the food on our plates.
As always, House of EL sidesteps conventional boxes. Drawing influence from Toro y Moi to Mark Ronson, Stevie Wonder to Joy Division, McIntosh fuses soul, jazz, electronica, and pop into something entirely his own. The result? Music that challenges genre as much as it challenges ideas.
Behind the scenes, McIntosh has quietly helped shape the sound of UK music — co-writing hits like “Disconnect” (Becky Hill x Chase & Status), and collaborating with everyone from Janelle Monáe and Mary J. Blige to Plan B and Emeli Sandé.
With “Say It Ain’t So”, he once again proves he’s more than just a behind-the-scenes maestro. He’s a cultural curator, a sonic explorer — and one of the most quietly compelling artists working today.
