Gyakie’s Soulful Return with “Sankofa” and the Midnight Magic Behind Her Debut Album

Ghana’s soulful songbird, Gyakie, is back with “Sankofa” — a heartfelt new single that marks a bold, reflective turn in her artistic journey. Rooted in the meaning of the Ghanaian adinkra symbol Sankofa ("go back and retrieve"), the track is a stripped-back, emotionally rich anthem about reconnection and inner truth.

Co-written with longtime collaborator Afrolektra (Eyram Gbewonyo), “Sankofa” offers a raw preview of what’s to come on Gyakie’s debut album After Midnight.
