Ships & Hardships ft: Rae Khalil - Strawbrerry (Single)

“Strawbrerry” is the new single from LA/Amsterdam duo Ships & Hardships, featuring vocal stylings from Long Beach, LA native Rae Khalil. The track follows previous single “Loving Excuse feat. Benny Sings”, released via Dutch label Vokall Records.

For Rae Khalil, this follows her Def Jam Recordings album ‘CRYBABY’ which featured the likes of Anderson .Paak and Freddie Gibbs, and her collaborative CARTOONS single “Grace“ which saw considerable support across BBC 6Music.

A soulful sound rooted in Hip Hop production, "Strawberry" is a heartfelt tribute to the range of emotions that music can evoke and a celebration of creativity. It’s taken from the upcoming Ships & Hardships EP, which will include collaborations with further internationally acclaimed artists, to be announced in the coming months.

Ships & Hardships is the collaborative project of duo Meik de Swaan (LA) and Benny Sings producer, writer and keys player Adam Bar Pereg (Amsterdam).

Rae Khalil is a Grammy-winning singer, rapper, and songwriter. She gained recognition in2019 through Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow, earning praise from the likes of Queen Latifah and Anderson .Paak. In 2021, she won a Grammy for her contributions to .Paak’s “Lockdown”. Her music blends soul, R&B, and hip-hop, characterised by vibrant storytelling and introspection as she continues to push genre boundaries while remaining deeply personal.
