Two titans of hip-hop collide, as Xzibit and Ice Cube link up on ‘For The Love’ featuring Lorine Chia, the latest single from X’s forthcoming album, Kingmaker.

West Coast kingpins Xzibit and Ice Cube have appeared on several tracks together over the years, most notably on West Coast posse cuts like ‘Hello’ with Dr. Dre and MC Ren, and ‘LAX’ by Snoop Dogg. However, ‘For The Love’ is the first time Cube’s featured on one of X’s own projects. A moody, minimal beat pulses like a heartbeat beneath Lorine Chia’s silky vocals, setting the stage for two of hip-hop’s most iconic voices.

“Working with Ice Cube on my project was a big deal for me,” says X, whose collaborators on Kingmaker also include the likes of Dr Dre, Ty Dolla $ign, Busta Rhymes, Redman and B-Real“It’s an honour to still be working with him after all these years.”

This landmark collaboration headlines the gigantic 20-track Kingmaker, Xzibit’s first album in 12 years, due out 16th May.

Kingmaker has a double meaning. In one sense, it’s about giving new talent, like Compton AV, Guapdad 4000 and Tre Capital, a platform to guide them towards king status. On the other hand, it’s about a king teaching his disciples, with each track conveying a lesson or principle that has contributed to Xzibit’s success. “A Kingmaker is someone who helps others rise—whether it's through collaboration, mentorship, or opening doors,” he explains. “I've had a lot of people do that for me. Now, I want to be able to do the same thing for the next generation.”
