MLizzy - 10 Questions

One of the hottest and most eye-catching UK drill rappers coming through right now, MLizzy, smashes back into the sound sphere with raw new offering “BPD”, out now via SoundOn.

The South London native continues to make serious waves across the UK rap scene with his scintillating new single reflecting both the gritty scenes of real road life and commenting on the toxic nature of modern relationships. “BPD” – any acronym for Bi Polar Disorder serves to be an unapologetically authentic cut which sees the young lyricist deliver his razor-sharp bars and unique across a menacing FNR Beats-produced soundtrack. Layered with woozy bass kicks and smart percussive elements, MLizzy continues to fly the flag for his generation’s contemporary take on UK drill with Gen Z’s viewpoint on how material offerings can cover up a multitude of sins.

With key co-signs from the likes of Chy Cartier and Headie One across socials and beyond, MLizzy has also been supported by fellow rapid-riser’s such as LeoStayTrill and AntsLive, as well as Frosty, ZieZie, 163 Margs and TFace amongst many others.

Having only released five official singles until this point, the Londoner has seen exponential growth, racing to over 280K monthly Spotify listeners and clocking in excess of 1M streams on two of his tracks—3.7M on “CDM” and 1.2M on “Like Von”. His most popular track to date, “CDM”, exploded to 1M streams in its first month, placing on key Spotify playlists Rap UK and WhoWeBe as well as hitting #10 in the TikTok Viral Top 50 Charts and #29 in the Spotify Charts. The viral nature of his LuluLemon references point to a young artist with an eye on disruption whilst effortlessly crafting some of the UK’s hottest rap tracks right now.

It’s clear MLizzy is lazer-focused on multiple levels right now and looks set to garner a significant amount of attention over the coming months. With further releases promised this year, MLizzy feels like he’s ready to join his co-sign peers as one of the most naturally talented and electric young minds in the scene.

MLizzy sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

It started with freestyling at school with my friends, just messing about. Over time, it became more than just a routine—I developed a real passion for rapping and genuinely enjoy it.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

Dave, Lil Durk, and Central Cee. I would definitely want to collab with Central Cee.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I’ve got a single called Prince of the Vale dropping soon. It’s a celebration of where I’m from, but more importantly, a reflection on how far I’ve come and the love I’m receiving. I’m the Prince of the Vale—that’s home for me—and I’m embracing the fact that people are starting to see me as the next up from my area.

The track also showcases my versatility as an artist—I’ve experimented with different sounds and incorporated the What the Helly trend, which shows I can tap into what’s current while still making it my own. That’s something I pride myself on: being able to create music that’s both relevant and true to me

4. How would you describe your sound?

My sound is unique and authentic.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Supporting MOBO winner Pozer on the London date of his tour. I performed a 30-minute set, felt the crowd’s energy and love, and gave that same energy and love back—if not more.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Yeah—simple. Seize your day!

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

36 and GLA. I’ve also been listening to Main Road.

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

Marnz Malone – Cold Hearted World 3 and Lil Durk – Deep Thoughts.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

Make more music laughs. I’m usually writing lyrics.

10. Name three things you can't live without when in the studio.

My phone, girls, and "California Breeze" laughs hard.
