SOLOMON - HONEYCOATED (Album) + 10 Questions

Two years and 100 million streams since the release of his breakthrough EP, ‘FOR STARTERS’, SOLOMON today (11.07.25) drops his brand-new, nine track project, ‘HONEYCOATED’.

“For me, this project isn’t just a story, it’s the “once upon a time…” of the tale I’m about to tell throughout my career”, shares SOLOMON. “It’s the beginning of a journey I’m taking everyone on. The portal in the artwork symbolises stepping into a new world, and this is just the first of many.”

After touring with Pink Sweat$, SOLOMON relocated to LA and began crafting ‘HONEYCOATED’ alongside mintsauce (Jordan Adetunji) and Ian Holmes (Mannywellz). Having already previewed the project with ‘steal my soul’ and ‘downward spiral’, today he shares ‘robbery’, an eagerly anticipated fan favourite since BROCKHAMPTON sampled it on 2022’s ‘LISTERINE’.

SOLOMAN sat down with Wordplay Magazine to answer our infamous 10 Questions:

1. So tell me, how did it all begin? What sparked your love for music?

My mum had an old classical guitar she’d kept from when she was growing up. I’m pretty sure it had a string or two missing. Anyways, when I was about 8/9, she taught me the only three chords she knew and I ran with them. I’d started piano lessons that year at school and as soon as I picked up guitar, Mum tells me I “dropped piano like a hot potato”. From that point I just remember learning a load of chords, singing and playing along to songs I liked, which led me to start writing my own when I hit 16.

2. Who are some artists that influence you and that you want to work with in the future?

John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Bruno Major, FINNEAS to name a few.

3. What projects do you have coming up and can you give us any info on them?

I have a few projects lined up! I tend to horde songs and then compile them into track lists I think tell a story or build out a world.

My next project has sprinkles of Bossa nova throughout which I’m super excited for! It’s called ‘HONEYCOATED’ and it drops July 11th.

4. How would you describe your sound?

I aim to make music that’s compelling and takes you on an immersive journey. I love storytelling and lyrics that hit you right in the heart.

5. What's your proudest moment to date so far as an artist?

Probably, putting together my first tour (in some cities I’d never even been to) and seeing how many people showed up! It warms my heart so much and I’m so excited to do more.

6. Do you have any advice for our readers who may be trying to play the mad game of music?

Be mad. It helps. Also, be 1,000,000% yourself; you’re the only person who can.

7. Are there any artists on your radar right now that we should check out?

Kamal. A fellow London artist I always say I think will do big things!

8. What albums are on heavy rotation on your Spotify playlist currently?

I’m not listening to much at the moment. Although, I gotta say, Leon Thomas’s ‘Mutt’ album is fire. Amazing project.

9. What do you like to do when you're not making music?

I’m a big gamer. I like to play PlayStation to decompress.

I love drawing/painting digital art on my iPad.

I also love to eat. Food is my life.

10. Name Three things you can't live without when in the studio?

My guitar, my voice and a means of writing down some tear jerking lyrics. A lil Coke Zero wouldn’t go amiss either.
