Kryptik - Tokyo Drift (Official Video) + Price (Single)

Continuing the drip release of his critically acclaimed album “Unplugged”, Scottish hip-hop stalwart Kryptik hits us with a double drop.

First up is “Tokyo Drift” - The chilling yet hypnotic koto melody immediately informs you that this one’s a little more ominous. Followed closely by succulent sub-tones and a haunting hook, Kryptik steers the track towards the drop.

Straight into the bowels of Glasgow street culture, as we hear first-hand accounts of the rappers history and underworld experience. The switch in energy and flow is jarring as we delve into the depths of a troubled psyche trying to atone.

Detailing his disdain for clout chasers who glamourise the lifestyle and blur the lines between entertainment and reality, Kryptik sends a clear message to discourage others from believing the hype.

Round 2 and were met with “Price” - A storytelling violin paired with militant drums and raspy bass create an epic backdrop for this ferocious track.

Money isn’t a common topic of conversation for Kryptik and he quickly makes it evident this isn’t braggadocios. He instead takes the opportunity to open up about his musical ambitions and navigating the tightrope between an honest living and not falling back into old habits.

Flipping the mainstream narrative has been the primary objective of “Unplugged” and Kryptik leaves no stone unturned as he lays bare harsh truths in an honest and thought provoking fashion. Both tracks serve as another 2 nails in the coffin of his former life, as we witness the evolution of an artist, from a boy to a man.

Both beats produced by Louis Seivwright (BBC, The Rap Game UK, The Rap Yard GLA).
