Aanya Martin - Rhythm For The Blues (Single)
Arriving in timely fashion to ward off the January blues, Aanya Martin debuts her first release of 2025 in the form of hypnotic new single ‘Rhythm For The Blues’.
‘Rhythm For The Blues’ speaks to the healing nature of music and movement. The track’s nocturnal groove creates an almost ritualistic atmosphere, encouraging listeners to purge themselves of life’s ills by becoming engulfed in the song’s warm glow. Aanya’s writing is poignant and measured, the gentle rasp of her vocal delivery simultaneously conveying an intimate vulnerability as well as an unfaltering strength.
Speaking on the song’s meaning, Aanya says, "Rhythm For The Blues is about the power of music being a tool to change emotions. Music has healing components and holds much greater force that we often forget."
‘Rhythm For The Blues’ is the third official single from Aanya Martin, who released her debut track ‘White Doves’ in June of last year which was followed up by December’s ‘Shadows’. Both songs were received exceptionally well, with ‘White Doves’ being supported by BBC Radio 1’s Jess Iszatt and ‘Shadows’ being added to the Fresh Finds, New Music Friday UK and Just Dropped editorial playlists on Spotify, as well as being played by Theo Johnson on BBC Radio 1Xtra. With such strong support this early in her career, it’s clear that fans are connecting with Aanya’s emotive and refined sound.
Still in the infancy of her career, early highlights for Aanya have included supporting fellow UK artists Bel Cobain and IAMDDB on their respective tours, making her festival debut at Wilderness Festival (where NME tipped her as an artist to catch live) and premiering the music video for ‘White Doves’ at a screening at TT Liqour in East London. On 13th January, Aanya played her first headline slot at The 100 Club Jazz Festival where fans were spellbound by her bewitching live performance.
The inspiration behind Aanya Martin’s artistry is drawn from her personal experiences as a young woman navigating the world. Musical influences range from classic acts including jazz musician Jeanne Lee, actress/singer Julie London and Indian disco and jazz icon Asha Puthli, to contemporary artists such as Jessica Pratt, Moby and more.
With her amalgamation of eclectic influences and experiences, Aanya Martin has developed a distinctly unique sound that is moving, cinematic and poetic, offering relatable insight into her world. ‘Rhythm For The Blues’ further displays her versatility as an artist and ability to catch listeners' ears and imaginations.
