Shivani Day - That Which Is Not (EP)

Leicester-born, London-based Shivani Day releases her debut 6-track EP, 'That Which Is Not' via FAMM. Spanning over six tracks, she effortlessly weaves through themes of introspectiveness, social commentary and consciousness, offering an insight into her expanding musical world. The EP captures Shivani's all-encompassing palette that includes elements of Dance, 80's and 90's House, Jazz, Electronica, Trip-Hop and R&B paired with her ethereal vocals. Shivani's lyrics document internal monologues of personal and topical matters translated into music videos and visualisers inspired by her love for retro-futurism. 'That Which Is Not' introduces Shivani's own realm, which she intends to make listeners feel both nostalgic and euphoric.

“The project is a collection of songs that capture the beginning of my journey; these songs have allowed me to feel and follow my inner guide. Showcasing a range of genres and fusions I enjoy, this is the raw but refined version of myself as an artist. Tapping into different aspects of myself and my career prior to music so far.”

Having launched in April, Shivani Day took listeners on a thought-provoking journey with her debut single, 'Rhetoric', an Electronica-meets-R&B offering. Further experimenting with her sonics, 'Autoflight' sees Shivani join forces with frequent producer Minas for a Trip-Hop-influenced track and her sultry vocals for a contrasting blend. Having formed a creative partnership with producer 23Sunz, the pair collaborated on ‘Our Way' and 'Blue Car', which reflect Shivani's inner thoughts and capture an amalgamation of feelings. Taking us into new sonic realms, 'Suck To Be There' is inspired by late 80's, 90's House, and 2000's Garage allowing Shivani to flourish within new sub-genres and fusions. The track highlights her stream of consciousness, led by a duality of lyrics that channelled her state of mind whilst writing it. Closing the project, Shivani teamed up with Earbuds for 'Sacrificial Lamb' an eerie-sounding track filled with metaphors to encapsulate Shivani's social commentary on the world we live in. The cohesiveness of the project enhances the listening experience at the hands of Shivani's tastemaker range of influences.

Shivani continues to earn the attention of tastemakers far and wide having already garnered support from CRACK, The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland, Notion and more. With ‘That Which Is Not’, Shivani aims to expand and initiate the thoughts of her listeners as she puts everything toward her artistic growth for 2024 and beyond.
